The Board of Elders shall be the policy-making group of the Church and transact the business of the Church between quarterly business meetings. The board shall also implement business decisions/votes referred to it by the Church in annual or special meeting.
The duties and responsibilities of the board is to provide for the temporary supply of the pulpit in the absence of the Pastor. Recommend to the Church any former Deacon or Elder who has commended themselves by faithful service and outstanding character for special honor and recognition as an Honorary Deacon or Honorary Elder. Hold monthly and special called meetings at a time set by members and report activities at the quarterly business meeting. Recommend persons to serve on the Board of Elders, Deacon Board, Board of Trustees, Nominating Committee, Financial Secretary, Assistant Financial Secretary, Treasurer, Assistant Treasurer, Count Committee, Long Range Planning Committee, Cemetery Committee, and Landscape Committee utilizing the recommendations from the Church through the time and talent card. Nominate delegates from the church to the National Association of Congregational Christian Churches. Recommend Church members to the National Association of Congregational Christian Churches to serve as nominees for commissions, committees, and boards. Review the constitution yearly. Hold in trust Church properties, but shall have no power to buy, sell, mortgage, or transfer property except by vote of the Church. Execute legal documents including deeds, notes, securities, endowments, and insurance policies.
